Description

Know your HIV status in minutes with the OraQuick® HIV Self-Test Kit, a WHO-approved, FDA cleared oral HIV test designed for private, at home use. No blood. No needles. No laboratory visit.

This test is suitable for individuals who need immediate HIV status confirmation, including those considering or currently accessing Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP).

What This Test Does

OraQuick detects HIV-1 and HIV-2 antibodies using oral fluid collected from your gums. Results are available in 20 to 40 minutes.

  • Oral swab (not saliva, not blood)
  • Very accurate when used correctly and at least 3 months after an exposure. A negative result before then may miss a recent infection
  • Trusted globally for self-testing and screening

Why you need to test before starting PEP

HIV testing is required before starting PEP to confirm that you are HIV negative.

  • If testing is immediately available, test before starting PEP
  • If testing is not immediately available, start PEP first and test as soon as possible

OraQuick gives you a fast, private testing option when access to clinics or labs is limited.

How to Use OraQuick (Simple Steps)

  1. Do not eat, drink, or brush teeth 30 minutes before testing
  2. Swab upper and lower gums once (no blood required)
  3. Place the test stick into the developer solution
  4. Wait 20–40 minutes
  5. Read your result

Clear instructions are included in the pack.

Understanding Your Results

  • One line: HIV negative
  • Two lines: HIV positive (preliminary)
  • No line:  Invalid test (repeat testing)

A positive result must be confirmed at a healthcare facility.

Limitations of OraQuick

  • OraQuick does not detect recent HIV exposure
  • There is a window period of up to 3 months after exposure
  • A negative result does not rule out very recent infection

If you had a recent high-risk exposure:

  • Start PEP immediately (within 72 hours)
  • Test now and repeat testing later as advised

Who Should Use This Test

  • Individuals with recent HIV exposure
  • Anyone starting or already on PEP
  • People who want discreet, at-home HIV testing
